Can you provide an overview of your company and its industry?

Glass reinforced plastic (composites) product manufacturer.

What motivated your company to seek a new solution or service?

As a new business, seeking the right materials for our production processes has been key. Typically, most release agents are prohibitively expensive, or do not perform well enough – as such finding a supplier who offers multiple pack sizes at an affordable price, and that works as intended was an aspect we needed to resolve.

What factors influenced your decision to choose our product/service?

From the initial enquiry sent to the team at Marbocote, the customer service has been amazing! Joanna and Mike replied with recommendations on which products would be suitable, spent time understanding what materials we manufacture with, and the moulds we use, as well as demonstrating the release agents and talking through the application, maintenance and use methods. Nothing has been too much, and queries have been answered quickly and with plenty of guidance when required.

Can you describe the application process of our solution within your production?

We use the Marbocote Mould Sealer and Fastcote release agent on both melamine board and glass reinforced plastic (polyester) tooling and moulds. The wipe on and spread application method for the mould sealer, and the wipe on and leave method for Fastcote saves an amazing amount of time in the
tool/mould preparation stage. Unlike other release agents, there’s no need to buff the surface in between coats, and enhances the finish of the final product.

How has our solution improved your daily production?

Less down time for mould preparation – the Fastcote release agent provides amazing results, even on our moulds that have very little to no draft resulting in tight moulding. Even on these moulds, the release is effortless, with the only resistance the result of the mould tightness.
In addition the finish on the final part imparted by the release agent has resulted in less ‘finishing’ time required to bring the part up to the level required.

What feedback have you received from your team members or end-users about the solution?

Having used alternative release agents previously, Marbocote’s products have proven to be much more efficient and effective and as such there is no intention to use other brands or products again.

Not only do the products perform better than others used, the customer service received has been second to none, and that in itself is 90% of the reason to continue using Marbocote products.

Can you quantify the impact our solution has had on your company (e.g., cost savings, efficiency gains)?

In terms of impacts – the main has been in time savings. Mould preparation, once coated, takes minutes rather than hours, the finishing time of products now takes less than 1 hour, with some products taking as much as 75% less time as a result of the finish the release agent imparts on the product. Whilst only a small business, this time saving has resulted in leadtimes for products reducing by almost half.
